By combining conservation with education, the Parrot Lover's Cruise creates an unparalleled experience and memorable vacation for parrot enthusiasts and caregivers. And with onboard raffles, auctions and a portion of the conference fees all designated to support the efforts of the World Parrot Trust (WPT), this cruise is one that will leave a lasting impression for the benefit of wild parrots. On this very special trip, you will have the opportunity to learn about efforts being made to save parrots in the wild. You will have the chance to learn from researchers doing work to save individual species and visit rehabiliation centers working to rescue and release parrots back to the wild. You will get to see where wild parrots live. And, if you are fortunate and the timing is right, you might even catch a glimpse of the birds living wild and free. |

The WPT works with parrot enthusiasts, researchers, local communities and government leaders to encourage effective solutions that protect parrots. They do this by conducting field research on little known species; supporting the rehabilitation, release and reintroduction of threatened and endangered parrots; discouraging the trade in wild caught parrots, facilitating educational programs locally and worldwide, encouraging the purchase of critical habitat areas; promoting ecotourism; and advocating for better captive parrot care everywhere.
The following are just a few of the WPT's programs to protect parrots:

The Lory Conservation Network (LCN) links zoos, bird parks, and lory exhibits around the world with conservation projects designed to protect lories and lorikeets. In many areas wild lory populations are under threat and need help to survive. |
